Saltzer Medical Group Chooses Change Healthcare for Practice Management Services

Agreement will assist Idaho multi-specialty organization’s transition to independent status

ATLANTA--()--Change Healthcare has entered into a long-term managed services agreement with Nampa, Idaho-based Saltzer Medical Group, P.A., a large multi-specialty physician practice serving the Boise metropolitan area and southwestern Idaho. Saltzer has operated as a part of St. Luke’s Health System since 2012, but will now become an independent practice to more effectively serve patients in the Treasure Valley region.

Under terms of the arrangement, Change Healthcare will assume responsibility for all Saltzer’s non-clinical operations. Capabilities provided by Change Healthcare will include:

Saltzer is a primary care-anchored, multi-specialty practice with locations in the major population centers of Idaho’s Treasure Valley, including the cities of Boise, Nampa, Caldwell and Meridian. The practice also operates three ancillary service sites in Canyon and Ada counties.

John Kaiser, MD, president of the group, said allowing Change Healthcare to take responsibility for Saltzer’s operational and business functions will enable clinicians to focus exclusively on the provision of care. He said Change Healthcare was selected on the strength of the company’s reputation and experience as well as the depth of its service offerings.

As part of this process, Change Healthcare will manage Saltzer’s non-clinical employees and collectively with Saltzer Medical Group leadership, design and execute strategic initiatives to further enhance the delivery of quality patient healthcare in the Treasure Valley.

“The business of healthcare has become increasingly complex, and we realized we needed additional expertise to help us navigate today’s uncertain waters,” Kaiser said. “As one of the nation’s largest and most experienced companies offering physician practice management services, Change Healthcare provides us with that expertise. We look forward to working with them to realize our collective vision of creating a strong and growing medical practice that can serve patients throughout the Treasure Valley.”

In addition to overseeing operational aspects of the practice, Kaiser said Change Healthcare also will provide strategic planning assistance aimed at growing the group’s provider base, expanding clinical programs and services, and improving brand recognition.

Pat Leonard, president, Technology-Enabled Services, Change Healthcare, said the company’s experts will be closely engaged with Saltzer on a continual basis to ensure a successful transition to independent status. “We are pleased that Saltzer recognizes the range of capabilities that Change Healthcare can bring to help practices thrive in the current environment,” Leonard said. “We look forward to helping them move forward and grow as an independent physician organization.”
